New Sensations announces 2010 Parody lineup.0 COMMENTS
Author: Thom :: Posted: Fri Feb 05, 2010 1:39 pm
CHATSWORTH, CA - As other adult studios slim down their production schedules for 2010 due to the slacking economy, New Sensations is gearing up for what is set to be their most ambitious feature-based production schedule in history. Primarily known for their high quality gonzo releases in prior years, they have spent the last year becoming the leading producer of award-winning porn parody feature productions and 2010 will be no different.

Currently in pre-production for a February shoot, "The Big Lebowski: A XXX Parody" will be one of the multiple tent-pole parody releases for the studio this year; marking history as the first adult production to hold a public casting call offering fans starring roles in the movie. Directed by Lee Roy Myers, the sexed-up version of this cult classic will shoot at various locations in Los Angeles, California.

Also on the February roster, Myers will commence shooting "Reno 911: A XXX Parody," diverting from the normally scripted parodies and adding in portions of improvisation. Working off of a hilarious script written by Eddie Adams ("Friends: A XXX Parody"), the cast will be expected to improvise in true "Reno 911" fashion.

The details surrounding the remaining productions are being kept under strict wraps by the studio; however, they have released the following ambitious 2010 line-up:

"Harry Potter: A XXX Parody"
"The Golden Girls: An All-Milf XXX Parody"
"The Breakfast Club: A XXX Parody"
"24: A XXX Parody"
"The A-Team: A XXX Parody"
"This is Spinal Tap: A XXX Parody"
"Buffy: A XXX Parody"
"Lost: A XXX Parody"

Talent interested in auditioning for roles in any of the above titles should contact Lee Roy Myers at LeeRoyXXX at gmail.com or www.twitter.com/leeroymyers.

The Perfect Pair: Porn and Video Games0 COMMENTS
Author: Thom :: Posted: Sun Oct 04, 2009 2:40 pm
It makes perfect sense. Video games offer a lot of bang-bang, especially if you’re trying to shoot those pesky invaders from outer space. And porn offers a lot of ... um ... banging.

So why not mix porn and video games together?

It’s a great idea: There may be no better match than sex and joysticks. In fact, people have been thinking about this topic since the early days of video games.
But can you think of a wildly popular video game that’s all about pornography? You can’t. And there lies the challenge—and the opportunity for anyone who works in the porn industry.

“There is room for growth more than anything since it’s never been done successfully,” says Brian Bangs, editor of PopPorn.com. “If a gaming company really created an interesting player experience, which also included adult-oriented material that made sense within the game and had great graphics, I think it would have a huge market.”

Not surprisingly, sex and video games have quite a history, going back to the early 1980s.

If you’re 40 or older, you may remember the Atari 2600, one of the first at-home gaming systems. While many of us amused ourselves with Missile Command and Pitfall, about 80,000 people bought Custer’s Revenge, an adult game that allowed players to let the general go wild with Native American women, says porn/video game historian Damon Brown.

Strip poker games kept computer users happy, while Leisure Suit Larry got busy in his own video game and landed in the hands of 1 million people.

As video games became more sophisticated, they began to add more opportunities for interaction. In 2005, the Playstation 2 video game Playboy: The Mansion came out; it was also available for PCs and the Xbox.

“You can even interact with your guests, set up interviews and photo shoots and partake in more intimate activities,” one promo proclaims.

Even more recently, Grand Theft Auto allowed players to have sex with prostitutes, just like in bad neighborhoods in real life.

In general, there are two kinds of sexy video games, says Brown, author of 2008’s Porn & Pong: How Grand Theft Auto, Tomb Raider and Other Sexy Games Changed Our Culture.

“There’s one set that can be considered porn, like Virtual Jenna,” he says. “The main focus of the game is to get a virtual version of Jenna Jameson off. You use your hands, tongue and other types of accoutrements. The faster you get her off, the higher your score.”

The problem? It’s not very sophisticated to people who live to play video games, at least if they’re feeling serious.

“If you’re an average gamer, you won’t play that game,” Brown says. “If you’re horny, you’ll hit that game.”

The other kind of sex-related video games take place in virtual worlds such as Second Life.

Which one do you fit in? There’s certainly good reason to explore both, no matter what you do in the industry. Virtual-world sex seems to be the hottest area, thanks to sites such as 3DSlut.com and virtual worlds such as Red Light Center. If you want to explore, get in touch with the creators. The best opportunities, however, appear to lie in the old-fashioned video game world—PCs and Macs, xBox and Wii.

If you have a porn site, it might cost as little as $1,000 to hire a designer to create a Flash-based game for users to enjoy, Brown says.

Why not try a variation on strip poker? Or create a simple game that allows users to rack up points and see scenarios if they get to a certain level? And don’t forget the value of competition. Remember how old-style arcade games would list the top scorers? Why not let your users compete to see who’s on top—in more ways than one?

“Update the game every week—that could be really cool,” Brown says. “It may be a good way of bringing people back to your site.”

You may want to go even further and create a porn game for the xBox or Wii. Or even for mobile phones (except the iPhone, which doesn’t allow X-rated applications).

Brown has some advice: Don’t rush into it. “You’ve got to respect gaming. It’s a $25 billion business. They already have an infrastructure in place. If you’re going to penetrate the industry, you have got to do some research.” And if you do decide to design a game, figure out who your users will be. True gamers—those who live for this kind of thing—will want something good.

“It’s easy to make that assumption that if they like video games, they will come if you put in some porn,” Brown says. “That’s a mistake.”

In other words, don’t create a crappy video game. Put some thought into it and you could, as Brown put it, penetrate the industry.

BurningAngel Partners With Totalmass to Launch Mobile App0 COMMENTS
Author: Thom :: Posted: Thu Oct 01, 2009 3:10 pm
BROOKLYN, NY - BurningAngel founder Joanna Angel has announced a partnership with global media company Totalmass that will provide porn fans worldwide with the Queen of Alt Porn’s first (but not last) adult application for mobile devices.

The BurningAngel app is a paid application available for download within the iTunes store. Titled “Punk Rock Pinups Slideshow,” the app allows users to browse and then tap their favorite BurningAngel girl wallpaper for free.

Fans also can rate and vote for their favorite BurningAngel girls (including Joanna Angel, Misti Dawn, Bella Vendetta, Draven Star, Jessie Lee and others), save each image as wallpaper, create a custom slideshow of their faves, email them to friends, and much more. Songs by BurningAngel’s favorite bands—featured in BurningAngel movies—play alongside the slideshow.

The app costs $1.99.

“This is our first iPhone app but we have plans to do other ones in the future,” Joanna Angel told AVN. “I’m really excited about this new technology and think our fans will really appreciate it. It’s a fun way to do PG-rated things with X-rated content and a great way to extend our brand. I also think this is definitely the time to try to capitalize off of as many revenue streams as possible—with the popularity of iPhone apps, it only made sense for us to have one.”Totalmass Inc. is a global mobile media company that works with well-known alternative and independent brands to bring content to mobile network operators and direct to consumers though its global distribution network.“We have all been big fans of Joanna and BurningAngel for several years now, and we love their take on adult entertainment,”

Totalmass CEO Duane Wilson said. “We are very excited to launch the first-ever adult application on the App Store featuring a hardcore brand; while the application seems tame, we are working to launch additional applications as native iPhone apps as well as mobile applications and on-deck properties to bring this special content to the world’s mobile users.”

Studio A Wins Piracy Lawsuit Against Ohio Retailer0 COMMENTS
Author: Thom :: Posted: Wed Sep 30, 2009 3:13 pm
CLEVELAND - On Monday, U.S. District Judge Solomon Oliver Jr. issued his final order in the case of Studio A Entertainment v. Action DVD, et al. and it was a doozy. Judge Oliver had previously granted summary judgment to Studio A in January, finding the counterclaims by retailer Action Software and its owner, Alexander Belfer, to be without merit, and awarded Studio A $15,750—the statutory minimum—for the 21 Andrew Blake titles that Action had illegally sold.

But the Sept. 28 order for attorneys' fees was the real attention-getter. Judge Oliver awarded Studio A's attorney Jules D. Zalon a whopping $173,368.96 in fees and costs, in large part because of the fact that shortly after the lawsuit was filed, Action had agreed to settle with Studio A for just $20,000, but on the day the settlement was to be signed, Action reneged and hired a new attorney who, according to Zalon, "embarked on a scorched earth litigation policy."

"The next two years or so was taken up with my filing motion after motion, seeking to discover exactly what business they may have done," Zalon told AVN. "And the dumb thing is that had they given me the requested information in the first place, rather than requiring four separate court orders, I would have moved for summary judgment immediately, since their liability was so obvious. But in addition to busting my chops, they also filed two dozen of their own motions, almost all of which were frivolous and denied."Indeed, Action had argued that the pirated DVDs it had sold were not bootleg copies and claimed that Studio A had offered no evidence to show that the disks were unauthorized.

Trouble is, the plaintiffs had submitted affidavits and testimony from Blake's wife (and Studio A's co-owner), Carol, as well as from the company's replicator and the graphics company that prints the package inserts for Studio A's DVDs, all of whom testified that there were vast and obvious differences between the legitimate titles and the disks which were in the possession of Action Software.

The defendants also claimed that they had not been properly served with the complaint, and made contradictory statements in legal filings as to whether they had been aware that the copies they were selling were pirated.

In all, 195 documents were filed in the case, many of which Judge Oliver characterized as "frivolous and objectively unreasonable arguments" by the defendants—a factor that apparently was important in the judge's decision to grant the attorneys fees.

"This suit was initiated in 2005, lasting over four years, for what amounted to a relatively small damage award based entirely on the Copyright Act’s provisions governing damages," Judge Oliver wrote. "The parties were engaged in settlement discussions early in the litigation, and according to Zalon, they reached a tentative settlement for approximately the statutory damage amount. The settlement discussions eventually concluded without agreement, which Zalon contends was because of Defendants' refusal to agree to this amount... The court finds this conduct unreasonable in light of the provision of the Copyright Act detailing damages and their apparent knowledge throughout the litigation that the DVDs were unauthorized copies. An award of fees and costs against Defendants, in this case, would deter others from continuing to litigate and not engaging in good faith negotiations where liability is conceded and the amount of damages are prescribed by statute."

Indeed, Zalon submitted records showing that he had devoted well over 400 hours to the case, at an hourly rate that was significantly less than that of other attorneys with similar experience and expertise in copyright law. Judge Oliver found that Zalon's submissions were entirely reasonable, awarding him $139,449 in fees and $33,919.96 in costs.

"Clearly, they [the defendants] expected that they would simply outlast me—something, believe it or not, they actually admitted in a filed brief," Zalon said. "That was a very big mistake, since the Copyright Act provides for a discretionary award of reasonable attorneys fees to the prevailing party. And the judge awarded every penny we sought."

"The importance of this case is that it should encourage attorneys to take copyright infringement cases that do not have great potential for large damage awards," Zalon continued, "since the amount at issue is completely separate from what a court will award as fees, should they be successful. It should also act as a warning to recalcitrant infringers, who think that if they bust the plaintiff's chops, they will go away."

Zalon's work on the case also helped uncover what has become known as the "Canadian Pipeline" of bootleg adult DVDs, and it was that pipeline which was targeted in the Evil Angel/Jules Jordan piracy case in 2007, which produced a multimillion-dollar verdict for those companies.
