Chicago deathcore fledglings, Oceano, entered the studio on October 3rd to begin recording their debut album.
Andrew Mikhail, guitarist for Oceano - the band who had a series of photos Banned from MySpace for being too gruesome - comments on the band's first week in the studio: "Things have been going great here. Drums are done and we're currently in the process of mixing them, then we begin the rest of the tracking next week. So for now, we're lifting weights, booking tours, and playing N64 while we wait. It's still a little early to give a lot of update, but the album is coming along smoothly and sounding great."
And just incase you had any doubts about it, Mikhail finishes, "We're most definitely shooting for this CD to be one of the heaviest and darkest CDs around!"
'Depths', the debut album from Oceano, is being recorded with producer Joey Sturgis (The Devil Wears Prada, Mychildren Mybride) at The Foundation Studios in Connersville, Indiana, and will feature artwork from Colin Marks (Strapping Young Lad, Aborted, Whitechapel).

After being sucked into the haunting world of GeneCo, she is unable to turn back, as all of her questions will be answered at the wildly anticipated spectacular event: The Genetic Opera.

Celebrating Converse’s diverse and authentic historical roots in sports and pop culture, the company introduces a selection of premium footwear for Fall 2008. A continuation of the brand’s 100th anniversary celebration, the collections reference the brand’s undeniable influence on pop culture and music with decidedly modern styling, materials and detailing. Using references that range from secret geometry to electronic music, and the Grateful Dead, each of the unique styles are designed to honor the genres and movements in music and culture that have disrupted the status quo. Key collections include Grateful Dead, Black Sabbath, The Doors, The Who, Ozzy, and Pink Floyd.
Grateful Dead
From the beginning in 1965, the Grateful Dead set its own standards and redefined music and the live concert experience. The band’s apparent disdain for the status quo enabled them to become music’s most enduring success story, and what began as a freewheeling group of musicians transformed into one of the most powerful icons in American pop culture. Serving as a canvas, the collection pays homage to the Grateful Dead legacy through simple execution with detailing left to the powerful imagery and artwork for which has become forever associated with the Grateful Dead. Featuring the two artists who were at the forefront of San Francisco’s renaissance of graphic poster art in the 1960s and 1970s, Alton Kelley’s and Stanley Mouse’s artwork is featured prominently; Skull & Roses, Europe ’72 album artwork and Ice Cream Boy are three of the icon pieces featured. The famous dancing bears and Grateful Dead logo round out this amazing collection that includes Chuck Taylor® All Star® high top and oxford shoes.
Available in black/blue/grenadine, black/bears, white/blue/grenadine leather, white/bears, white/grenadine/gold and white/multiple, shoes in this collection retail for MSRP $40 - $70 and will be available nationwide at www.Journeys.com, Journeys stores and at www.Converse.com.

Movies come in all shapes and forms and styles and releases. Some films have huge budgets and big stars and get wide releases, others have small budgets, smaller stars and are released limitedly but one does not trump the other. Yes, through my years of watching films in theaters I have been pleased by both large big budget releases and smaller indie releases and as well have been burned by both. So in this game of "I hope it is worth my money" it is always a seeming crap shoot on whether a film will be worth while. Of course I wish I could do more to help you make an educated guess, yet alas I am not educated so I can only help with the guess part, so with that check out below for links to this weeks films hitting theaters which include BODY OF LIES, LOWER LEARNING, THE EXPRESS, QUARANTINE, CITY OF EMBER and ROCK'N'ROLLA. Some are in wide release some are in limited but figured you should know what's all out there either way! Hit up the links below for more information on each film including the trailer, official site and IMDB.com pages!

While for some the anouncement of a Deluxe Edition DVD (out now!) of the classic animated film WATERSHIP DOWN brings bad memories of having to you know read books when they were in school, and for others (like me) seeming embarrassment over the fact that this cartoon has the ability to make us cry (but to be fair I cried at the end of GODZILLA 1985 too... he just looked so sad as he was falling into the volcano) but none can deny the sheer power of this films message. As prominent a message today as it was back in the 70's this is definitely a film that begs to be viewed again or for the first time for those whom have yet to partake, so read on for the official synopsis and trailer and then you know what to do next!
WATERSHIP DOWN synopsis:
Nestled among the rolling hills and peaceful meadows of England lives a community of rabbits. When their warren is threatened, a small group of brave rabbits illegally escapes into the unknown countryside in search of a safer home. Led by the visionary Fiver, the courageous Bigwig, the clever Blackberry, and the honorable Hazel, they embark on a danger-filled journey, where they must use their strength and cunning to survive, while pursuing their dream.
