Metallica's 'Death Magnetic' Nominated For 4 Grammy Awards0 COMMENTS
Author: Anthony :: Posted: Thu Dec 04, 2008 6:47 am

Warner Bros. Records' recording artists, Metallica, were nominated for four Grammy Awards today, including Best Rock Album, Best Metal Performance, Best Rock Instrumental Performance and Best Recording Package for the best-selling hard-rock band's current album 'Death Magnetic'.

The band's ninth studio album, 'Death Magnetic' debuted atop the Billboard Top 200 Album chart at No. 1, Metallica's fifth consecutive album to do so, making them the only band in chart history to have five albums debut at No. 1. It breaks the band's tie with the Beatles, U2, and the Dave Matthews Band, all of whom have four No. 1 album debuts. In addition to debuting at No. 1 atop Billboard's Rock, Alternative, Hard, and Internet album charts in the U.S., the album racked up No. 1 chart positions in 32 foreign countries, including the U.K., Canada, and Australia, and Top 3 chart slots in seven more, including Japan. The Recording Industry Association of America certified the album platinum just six weeks after its release on September 12th, 2008.

Metallica have already won seven Grammy Awards, including five for "Best Metal Performance" since drummer Lars Ulrich and guitarist and vocalist James Hetfield formed the band in Los Angeles in 1981. They have gone on to become one of the most influential and commercially successful rock bands in history, having sold 100 million albums worldwide and playing to millions of fans the world over.

Metallica are currently on their first proper tour of the United States and Canada in four years in support of 'Death Magnetic'.

The Grammy Awards will be handed out at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on February 8th, 2009. Tune in to the 51st Annual Grammy Awards Telecast, which airs that night on CBS at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

Disturbed's 'Indestructible' Nominated For A Grammy0 COMMENTS
Author: Anthony :: Posted: Thu Dec 04, 2008 6:44 am

Reprise Records' Disturbed received their first Grammy Award nomination today in Best Hard Rock Performance Category for their current album 'Indestructible'.

'Indestructible' was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America just six weeks after its June 3rd release. It has spawned the hit single "Inside the Fire," and set a record when it spent 16 weeks atop the Active Rock Radio chart. Their current single/title track, "Indestructible," is currently Number 2 on the Billboard Active Rock Chart.

The self-produced album debuted at Number One on Billboard's Top 200 album chart and remained in the Top 10 for five weeks. 'Indestructible' is the band's third consecutive Number One album, following their platinum-sellers 'Believe' (2002) and 'Ten Thousand Fists' (2005), making Disturbed one of only six rock bands in history to score three consecutive Number One debuts with studio albums. Formed in Chicago in 1996, Disturbed have sold a collective 10 million albums worldwide.

The band is currently on tour in the United States and Canada.

The Grammy Awards will be handed out at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on February 8th, 2009. Tune in to the 51st Annual Grammy Awards telecast, which airs that night on CBS at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

Into Eternity To Premiere New Video December 10th0 COMMENTS
Author: Anthony :: Posted: Thu Dec 04, 2008 6:02 am

It has been an extremely productive and successful 2008 for Canadian extreme progressive metal icons Into Eternity, who wrapped up their North American tour with Iced Earth a few weeks ago. This was preceded by the band’s first Japanese tour supporting At The Gates and Dillinger Escape Plan, their first full Canadian tour (Summer Slaughter Canada) and a spring trek as direct support to progressive legends Symphony X. The release of the band's first concept album, the critically acclaimed 'The Incurable Tragedy', debuted at #17 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart, which also marked their highest first week sales.

Earlier this year, the band shot a video for the track “Time Immemorial.” The clip will finally premiere next Wed., Dec. 10, exclusively on MySpace Metal. To whet fans' appetites, the band has posted some behind-the-scenes footage from the video shoot. Check it out below.

In This Moment Post Interview Segments Online0 COMMENTS
Author: Anthony :: Posted: Thu Dec 04, 2008 5:50 am

Southern California rockers, In This Moment, are nearing the end of a massive two-month North American trek as direct support to Five Finger Death Punch and the tour has been a huge success. Maria Brink (vocals) and Chris Howorth (guitars) sat down with Meredith Molinari of Vlaze.com for an in-depth chat in regards to their plans for next year, how it was to tour with FFDP and their favorite tracks from their highly acclaimed new album 'The Dream'. Check out the three part interview below.

The group also stopped by the GOTV network last week for an uncensored, candid interview. Click here to check it out.

In This Moment’s first single for 'The Dream', “Forever,” is continuing to tear up the Active Rock charts led by heavy airplay from such tastemaker stations as WCCC (Hartford), KFNK (Seattle), KXTE (Las Vegas), WJJO (Madison) and Sirius’ Octane. This is all while the track “The Great Divide” reigns supreme on Sirius’ Hard Attack playlist each week. The song was also voted by the fans on the band’s MySpace page as the favorite cut to post next. Check it out on the band's Myspace Page.

'The Dream' debuted at #70 on the Billboard Top 200 chart, which also marks the group’s first Billboard entry. This is over a 150% increase in sales from their previous album, 'Beautiful Tragedy', in a marketplace that is at best half of what it was at the time of their debut release.

Saving Abel To Open Nickelback Tour0 COMMENTS
Author: Anthony :: Posted: Thu Dec 04, 2008 5:41 am
Rock band Saving Abel will join Seether as openers for Nickelback on their North American tour beginning February 25th in Nashville, TN (full schedule below). Saving Abel’s largest outing to date will hit arenas in over 30 cities across the continent. Tickets go on sale beginning Dec. 5th at www.LiveNation.com.

“We’re thrilled to be opening for Nickelback. It’s crazy, a year ago we were playing small bars and clubs around Memphis and now we’re touring the country in a bus and will be playing with one of the biggest touring rock bands in arenas,” said Saving Abel frontman Jared Weeks.

Saving Abel have been on the road non-stop since the March, 2008 release of their self titled debut from Virgin Records, and have played with rock heavy weights such as Buckcherry, Avenged Sevenfold, Puddle of Mudd and Shinedown. The band has enjoyed impressive success with their chart-topping, multi-format smash debut single “Addicted,” which hit #1 at mainstream rock radio, spent 11 consecutive weeks at #2 on the active rock chart and reached #7 at alternative radio. At press time, the track is the most played song of 2008 at the active rock format. “Addicted” found a whole new life in July when it impacted Top 40 radio. The run away hit is now sitting in the top 10 at the format and is top 15 at Hot AC. While “Addicted” is topping the pop charts, Saving Abel’s second single “18 Days,” a huge rock ballad dedicated to the troops, is heating up at rock radio where it is already top 10 at active rock and top 20 at alternative radio. Videos for both tracks have witnessed major play across all video channels including MTV2, VH1, Fuse and Music Choice where “Addicted” is currently the #1 played video an their “Hit List” channel.

Saving Abel continues to reach new heights on the sales charts as well. The album spent 3 consecutive weeks at #1 on Billboard’s Heatseekers chart before debuting on the Billboard 200 in July. It has sold over 240,000 copies to date. ”Addicted” hit #20 on the digital singles chart and is approaching platinum success with over 800,000 singles sold thus far.

Saving Abel - named after the Biblical sibling of Cain - was formed by Jared Weeks and guitarist Jason Null in 2004 in their hometown of Corinth, Mississippi. Now based in Memphis, Tennessee, the band's lineup includes guitarist Scott Bartlett, bassist Eric Taylor and drummer Blake Dixon. Combining influences of southern rock, hard rock and alternative music, the band was first heard on a 2005 EP, produced by Skidd Mills (12 Stones, Saliva, Submersed).
