Winds Of Plague Debut New Video Online, Banned By MTV1 COMMENTS
Author: Anthony :: Posted: Wed Jul 23, 2008 11:27 pm

Los Angeles Symphonic blackmetalcore unit, Winds Of Plague, recently stirred up some controversy as their much-anticipated new video for the track “The Impaler” was rejected by MTV for it’s supposed “graphic language and questionable content.” However, this didn’t deter MySpace Metal from stepping up to the plate and debuting the clip on their site, which has just gone live today. Click the link to watch the video, or check it out now below.

Johnny (vocals) further states: “We wanted to create a video that was entertaining and a bit outside the box as far as metal videos go. We were torn between an over the top epic metal video and a more fun, rap club style video, so we decided to combine the two worlds since we have been known to cross over genres anyways. We had a lot of our good friends come down to the location is Los Angeles and just had a blast putting this video together. Despite being really sick, it was one of the most fun days of my life. Director Jake Avignone was amazing to work with and I was really impressed with how efficient and smooth the whole operation went. I hope it confuses the hell out of everyone and makes traditional metal patrons heads explode.”

Winds Of Plague is currently one of the hottest bands in the genre, which is further cemented by the fact that they were just hand-picked by the legendary Glenn Danzig for his 20th anniversary tour this fall. The massive North American trek, dubbed the “Blackest of The Black,” kicks off in October and also features Dimmu Borgir, Moonspell and Skeletonwitch.

The group will embark on their next North American jaunt later this month as part of the “Thrash and Burn” festival that also features Darkest Hour, Parkway Drive, Misery Signals, Stick To Your Guns, Arsis, Arsonists Get All The Girls and After The Burial.

For more information and a complete list of tour dates, check out Winds Of Plague's Official Myspace Page, or http://www.myspace.com/thrashandburntour.

Blind Guardian To Promote "Sacred 2" At Comic-Con 20080 COMMENTS
Author: Anthony :: Posted: Wed Jul 23, 2008 10:51 pm

cdv Software Entertainment USA and Nuclear Blast Records USA are both proud to announce that Hansi Kürsch and André Olbrich, lead vocalist and lead guitarist of the definitive power metal band Blind Guardian, will be signing autographs in the Sacred 2: Fallen Angel area (Booth 5129) at this year’s Comic-Con in San Diego. The band members will be available on Friday and Saturday, July 25 and 26, from 5 to 6 p.m. to meet fans and promote a new song written exclusively for Sacred 2: Fallen Angel. Fans will also be able to visit the booth to enjoy hands-on play time with Sacred 2: Fallen Angel, the action-RPG set to release this fall on PC and next-generation consoles.

"The opportunity for Blind Guardian to work on a popular video game is quite exciting alone,” said singer Hansi Kürsch. "For us to contribute to and have our band exist within a game as rich as Sacred 2: Fallen Angel has been very rewarding for us, as gamers and fans of the Sacred series.”

“We’ve been long-time fans of Blind Guardian’s music,” added developer Ascaron Entertainment’s founder Holger Flöttmann. “The opportunity to have one of our favorite bands write a song and include their alter egos in-game has been a wonderful experience. It also signifies how great music and amazing games can fit together to deliver an even more enjoyable experience to gamers.”

“The members of Blind Guardian and their U.S. record label, Nuclear Blast, have been extremely easy to work with,” indicated Mario Kroll, Director of Marketing and Public Relations for cdv Software Entertainment USA. "To have musicians of this caliber and popularity not only help and create, but also promote Sacred 2: Fallen Angel is something we're incredibly excited about."

Sacred 2: Fallen Angel will be released on PC in September 2008. Console versions will be released in November. A Sacred 2 video trailer can be viewed below, as well as on the cdv USA homepage, on MySpace, on YouTube, and can be downloaded here. For more information, please visit the Sacred 2 website at http://www.sacred2.com.

Roadrunner Records Announces 3 New Signings0 COMMENTS
Author: Anthony :: Posted: Wed Jul 23, 2008 10:41 pm

Roadrunner Records is pleased to announce the signing of three eclectic, up and coming new bands to an already diverse roster than includes heavyweights such as Nickelback, Slipknot, Killswitch Engage, Dragonforce, and Theory of a DeadmanRoadrunner welcomes Dommin, Mutiny and Port Amoral to the fold.

Los Angeles-based goth rock quartet Dommin was discovered by Dirty Icon Productions, a company founded by producers Logan Mader, former guitarist of longtime Roadrunner artist Machine Head, and Lucas Banker. Led by the enigmatic frontman, guitarist and songwriter Kristofer Dommin, Dommin puts a uniquely refreshing spin on the romantic, dark goth sound, bringing a unified voice to the brokenhearted, conflicted swarm of melancholic music fans who prefer to look at the glass as half-full. Veteran A&R rep Monte Conner signed the band to the label and was quick to express his excitement, saying, "Dommin comes across as very fresh and unique in today's landscape. Kristofer Dommin is their secret weapon. His vocals are absolutely compelling, and this is especially evident live where you can feel the power, passion and emotion of every word he sings." Dommin's line up is rounded out by keyboardist Konstantine, bassist Billy James and drummer Cameron. Check out the swell of black-hued, stormy and mysterious goth rock and their video clip of fan favorite “My Heart, Your Hands” on the band's heavily trafficked MySpace page. Look for the band’s Roadrunner debut, produced by Dirty Icon Productions, this winter.

New Jersey-based Mutiny, a band of young turks who play like a troupe of seasoned shred veterans and who plucked their singer from Blackpool, England, thanks to the wonders of MySpace, have also been added to the label roster. The thoroughly metallic outfit was unearthed and signed by A&R man Mike Gitter, who was blown away by the band's live firepower. Gitter says, "The band was playing at a level so early in its career that most bands never touch. With the addition of [vocalist] Chris Clancy, they verge on unbeatable. Mutiny are truly the graduating valedictorians of Generation Guitar Hero." With members ranging in age from 18 to 23, Mutiny's line up is rounded out by bassist Andrew "AJ" Jacobs, guitarists Brandon Jacobs and Lu Obregon, keyboardist Drew Stavola, and drummer Bill Fiore. The Mutiny crew will spend the next few months toiling diligently in the Jacobs family's basement and they won't come out until they have an absolute metal classic on their hands. Turn your ear to their progressive-for-the-new-generation of metal songs posted at www.myspace.com/mutinynj.

Winnipeg, Canada's melodic metal band Port Amoral also joins the Roadrunner family. The group formed in 2004 and is comprised of a tandem of brothers, vocalist/bassist Jared Weiss and guitarist Eric Weiss. The line up is rounded out by guitarist Andrew Campbell and drummer Matthew Hallick. Port Amoral were also signed by Conner, whose interest was initially sparked after hearing demos produced by Canada's John Paul Peters (Comeback Kid, Waking Eyes) and taking in the energetic live show. "Port Amoral know how to craft songs with hooks and smart arrangements and their developed level of writing made me take notice," explains Conner. For a taste of the guitar mastery that turned Conner onto the band, check out a demo of the complex mini-epic "Villains" at www.myspace.com/portamoral.  The band will record its Roadrunner debut with Colin Richardson (Bullet for My Valentine, Trivium, As I Lay Dying) for a winter 2009 release.

Author: Anthony :: Posted: Wed Jul 23, 2008 4:29 am

Swedish thrashers Darkane have issued the following update:

"Finally the mixing of [the new Darkane album] 'Demonic Art' is completed and the album is being mastered right now. 12 songs ended up on the final version, with about 48 minutes of pure aggressive, brutal, melodic, modern, technical, furious, fast, heavy and insane thrash metal! We are very proud of this album and we know for sure that if you liked what we've done before you won't be disappointed in any way this time either. Darkane has developed in a way that hopefully will give us new fans as well, not meaning that we've turned softer or more mainstream... just better! ...and more humble."

'Demonic Art' final track listing:
01. Variations of an Eye Crush (instrumental)
02. Leaving Existence
03. Demonic Art
04. Absolution
05. Execution 44
06. Impetious Constant Chaos
07. Demigod
08. Soul Survivor
09. The Killing of I
10. Wrong Grave (instrumental)
11. Still in Progress
12. Wrath Connection

"We also have another song for the Japanese edition called "Reborn In Greed" (as you know by now they always require an extra track).

"This upcoming Friday, we are going to play our dear hometown Helsingborg again together with Soilwork and other great bands. We are going to play "Leaving Existence" from the new album for the first time. The show will be held at Gröningen and since it's a part of our town festival there's no entrance fee.

"In other news, Darkane are very impressed by this guy playing our song "Secondary Effects" on his own created Guitar Hero: Metal Edition! Check out the video below. This is a custom game for Guitar Hero II on the PS2. He created a full game including 64 songs by metal bands who have never been in Guitar Hero before, new pictures for every menu screen, and even some new characters.

To play this game, you must follow the instructions given on the Guitar Hero: Metal Edition website, and then play the burned disk in a modded PS2. If you're into Guitar Hero, and into metal, this game is crammed full of songs you'll love playing. Here's the link."

Architects Launch Blog, Prepare To Unleash 'Ruin'0 COMMENTS
Author: Anthony :: Posted: Wed Jul 23, 2008 2:49 am

With their Century Media debut release just around the corner ('Ruin' - 8/5), newly signed metallic hardcore act, Architects, have already started work on their next full length effort. To kick start this event, the band recently opened up their own Blogspot website which will document the writing and recording process of their new album.

In the latest update, the band comments on the mixing of the new material:
"Well we are over half way through mixing the album now and it sounds freaking sweet. The downside is that mixing is fucking boring and we've resorted to getting stoned all day. Its still pretty boring. Ali made me a cup of coffee though which was nice.

Last night we got smashed and went to a bar called the Purple Turtle and some club that used to be the Fez. I drank K so obviously it was a pretty good night. Then we got high as fuck. Good times!

Ali is having a whitey in the control room at 5 in the afternoon. Bless!"

You can check out in-studio video footage and read more updates at this location.

Architects are currently on tour, and this fall they will take part in the Altamont "Never Say Die" Tour alongside Parkway Drive, Unearth, and Despised Icon. For more information and a complete list of tour dates, visit www.myspace.com/architectsuk.
