The Godfathers of Swedish modern metal Soilwork are pleased to announce that they will embark on a North American headlining tour this Summer with San Francisco Bay Area thrash legends Death Angel. Joining them will be Quebec's tech-death masters Augury, Roadrunner Records fast rising tech melodic modern metallers Mutiny Within, and pirate themed thrashers Swashbuckle.
Soilwork vocalist Bjorn "Speed" Strid commented: "We are stoked to tour with the most vicious thrashers from the west, famous for their gin drinking and intense live shows. Death Angel is a classic band that we've wanted to tour with for a long time. A perfect fit for the bill and surely an awesome touring companion. The summer of mosh is upon us. Don't miss out!"
Death Angel frontman Mark Osegueda added: "I can't begin to tell you how excited we are about the upcoming tour! I first heard Soilwork on a Nuclear Blast promo compilation and they stood out from the first listen. The riffs, the drumming, and Bjorn's vocal attack! Then we were fortunate enough to play with them at With Full Force Festival a few years back and they killed it live! As fate would have it, I was asked to participate in a Nuclear Blast 20 Year Anniversary compilation album called Out of the Dark, which Peter Wichers wrote the music for. I wrote the lyrics and melody for a song on that compilation called 'My Name is Fate'! Peter actually was also the producer, so I was fortunate enough to get to work with him in the studio! What a brilliant guy and and a great musician and now that he is back in the fold Soilwork is back on top of their game. Soilwork are currently wrapping up the mixing process of 'The Panic Broadcast' with the renowned Jens Bogren (Opeth, Amon Amarth, Bloodbath). The album is tentatively scheduled for a June release via Nuclear Blast Records and is the first to feature guitarist/producer/songwriter Peter Wichers since his return to the band in 2008.
Death Angel are currently at Audio Hammer Studios in Sanford, Florida with production genius Jason Suecof (Trivium, August Burns Red, The Black Dahlia Murder, All That Remains, Whitechapel, Devildriver) tracking the new record, tentatively scheduled for a September of 2010 release.

Few bands today encapsulate the tireless work ethic that it takes to succeed at all costs putting their livelihood on the line to take that one shot at rockstardom, well the Chicago based Soil have taken this hard road and it's now starting to pay off tenfold. Thu Mar 18, 2010 2:20 am Alice In Chains bassist Mike Inez and drummer Sean Kinney recently sat down to do an exclusive interview for AOL's video podcast the "Creep Show" on Noisecreep. The full interview, which can be seen below, has the rhythmic duo giving insight into how they choose their set lists, the bands legacy and place in the hard rock scene, and their new chart topping single "Your Decision". The pair were also open to discussing the band's recent resurgence and moving forward without late frontman Layne Staley.

Santa Cruz, CA technical death metallers Brain Drill have just released the track listing for their upcoming sophomore release, 'Quantum Catastrophe', which hits streets on May 11th.

In preparation for the release of 'Quantum Catastrophe' and the band's first music video for the album, Brain Drill has posted a new track on their Myspace page. The new track is Beyond Bludgeoned, which the band filmed a video for back in February out in the San Joaquin Delta/Rio Vista, CA area. The video for Beyond Bludgeoned was directed by Nikko DeLuna and shot by Justin Potter. Stay tuned for when and where the video will be premiered.
Brain Drill will once again take fans on a mind-melting voyage through the boundaries of exactly how incredible technical death metal can be. 'Quantum Catastrophe' continues to push the band to their physical limits while somehow still exhibiting their trademark and infectious hook-laden riffs. Fan should expect an exponentially more technical and brutal release than they got with the band's Metal Blade debut 'Apocalyptic Feasting'. The song structures are way more over the top than before and the riffs catchier than before, which was a natural progression for the band as Brain Drill's goal is to push the limits of what they can do musically and technically. With 'Quantum Catastrophe', Brain Drill truly does push themselves to the limits.
'Quantum Catastrophe' was recorded at Castle Ultimate Studios in Oakland, CA with Zach Ohren, who handled engineering mastering and produced the album along with the band. Bassist Ivan Munguia got to show off his guitar skills on the tracks "Mercy to None" and "Awaiting Imminent Destruction" which he wrote and recorded.
Vocalist Steve Rathjen explains the concept behind 'Quantum Catastrophe'; "Universal decimation (black holes, galactic cosmic radiation), pandemic disease and zombie re-awakenings - mankind is entering an age of mass speculation as foreseen by numerous ancient cultures. Space to all humanity still primarily remains a mystery even in our days of immense technological advancements. We know this void is filled with infinite extremities which could occur at any instant; easily decimating all habitations. We also know our planet has fulfilled these mass extinctions time and again centuries in the past. The question which remains, are we due for another apocalyptic transition?"
Guitarist Dylan Ruskin adds some insight into the musical process; "The album was definitely a huge accomplishment in the chronicling of the drill. The musical dynamics and skill level of everyone in the band have improved much more than the previous album. The songs are more technical and musically diverse but are also well balanced and catchy."
'Quantum Catastrophe' again features cover art by Par Olofsson. The over the top cover art perfectly complements the nearly unbelievable musicianship present on the record.
To date Brain Drill has shared the stage with bands such as: Cannibal Corpse, Dying Fetus, The Black Dahlia Murder, Necrophagist, Job for a Cowboy, Unmerciful, All Shall Perish, Decrepit Birth, and many other extreme metal bands. In addition Brain Drill has also managed to land the #1 spot on the Myspace grindcore band charts and #7 on the Myspace death metal charts (back when those existed - Ed.).

New York death metal legends Immolation have scanned approximately 1600 copies of their new album 'Majesty and Decay' in it's first week of release in the United States. The CD landed at position No. 29 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.
Swiss melodic-folk-death-metallers Eluveitie have scanned approximately 1700 copies of their new album 'Everything Remains As It Never Was' in it's first week of release in the United States. The CD landed at position No. 23 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.
'Everything Remains As It Never Was' is the follow up to the bands successful acoustic/folk release 'Evocation I: The Arcane Dominion'. 'Everything Remains As It Never Was' features the band back again in full metal swing. The album was recorded by Tommy Vetterli (Coroner) and mixed by Colin Richardson (Slipknot, Machine Head, Kreator, Behemoth, Bullet For My Valentine etc.).

In a tale of addiction, and its affects on a band, comes Fresh Pots! the haunting vignette of Dave Grohl's dependency of the coffee bean. For the first time Them Crooked Vultures have released a short video on how the addiction spiraled out of control, and just how bad it got. With a look of sheer terror on Joshua Homme's face he chronicles Grohl's daily coffee intake, speculating that Grohl "probably has 5 fresh pots a day!"

On April 20, 2010, Oklahoma Industrial/Metal outfit- Rikets will release their sophomore effort - 'All America Death Cult' on Burnhill Union Records. The band comprised of vocalist and multi-instrumentalist- Scott Rose, guitarist and producer Provo, drummer Timmy Braun, Michael Reams on bass, and Nick Quijano (formerly of American Head Charge) on second guitar. Rose and company uprooted the original 'All American Death Cult' recording session from where they began in Dallas, TX and relocated them to Ben Schigel's (Switched) Strongsville, OH studio. "Ben has been there since day ONE. He's a motivator, a mentor, a vocal trainer a great creative mind. I've been friends with Ben for years and Switched was one of my favorite bands," Rose explains. "Working with him over the years on Rikets has been cool for both of us because we get to jam together."
'All American Death Cult' features tracks such as Program The Dead, Sold Me Out and a familiar track, "Cry Little Sister," a cover of a song made famous in The Lost Boys (a popular 1987 film). "I had called up Gerard McMann (original vocalist) who was a email buddy of mine and asked him if we could record his song for our new record," Scott recounts. "I wanted him to sing the song. I didn't want to fuck up the most perfect song ever, trying to re interpret what this guy felt when he laid it down." McMann came out and recorded with Rikets, creating a powerful new version of the acclaimed track.
McMann had this to say, "It was great to redo the song with Rikets because I was able to try new approaches to singing it and experiment with the track." He goes on to add, "What Rikets have done with this track is massive. I've heard a lot of people cover the song and their version is just huge!"
On March 27, the band will be shooting the video for the albums first single "Program The Dead" with director David Brodsky (The Dillinger Escape Plan, Hatebreed, Fear Factory) in Oklahoma city. The video will feature leading lady- Staci Flood who has worked with marquee names such as Busta Rhymes and Will Smith in addition to co-founding the "Bombshell Babies" and "The Pussycat Dolls" burlesque cabaret revue's featuring Carmen Electra.

On February 23rd, Finland's hard-rock heroes HIM and Sire/Reprise teamed up with MTV Games and Harmonix to release a brand-new downloadable content of three HIM tracks, including their new single "Heartkiller," for the Rock Band Music Store in connection with HIM being Xbox's featured artist for the month of March. The other downloadable tracks are "Ode to Solitude" and "Wings of a Butterfly."
Now the band is asking their fans around the world to help them set the record for the largest global Rock Band performance in history. On March 25th fans can make a video of themselves performing "Heartkiller" between 9 p.m. and 11 p.m. ET and upload it to the HIM'sYouTube channel within 24 hours beginning at 10 p.m. ET to be entered into an official contest at which time the members of HIM will choose the Top 5 best performance videos.
