BIOGRAPHY

Hailing from the prolific music scene found in the South-Eastern metropolis of Atlanta Georgia, DAATH did not spring forth fully formed. In the years prior to their recent signing to a worldwide recording contract with Roadrunner Records, main song-writers Eyal Levi (guitar) and Michael Kameron (vocals, keys) shared a musical upbringing and long collaboration that has brought them through many trials, disappointments, and accomplishments.

Levi and Kameron briefly attended Boston’s acclaimed Berklee College of Music together before deciding to end their studies so they could concentrate fully on developing their unique writing chemistry, which several years later still defines their musical collaborations , and thus was born their earliest incarnation. Using the moniker “Dirtnap” the pair wrote and recorded several demos and one full length CD between 1999 and 2003, until Kameron’s interest in ancient belief systems and psychology spurred both a change in band name and thematic content. Say’s the composer/vocalist, “Daath's music is an exploration of the negative sides of the human psyche.” So, in 2003, with a new name, new direction, and fresh line-up, DAATH set out on a nearly two year long path that saw them record their debut, the self-released “Futility”, distribute over 15,000 copies of it’s single, “Child Says” worldwide, and tour with both Misery Index and Arsis. In 2005 enough new material had been written to enter the studio for album number two and on a suggestion from Volume Magazine's Stace Jareti, Levi contacted Florida-based producer James Murphy (ex-Death, Obituary, Disincarnate, Testament). Originally planned for self-release, “The Hinderers” came together so well that Murphy (who played some guest guitar solos on the album) convinced the group to hold off on their DIY efforts to allow him time to find a label home for the band, and after a 5 month search Roadrunner Records A&R main-man Monte Conner gave the nod and Daath was brought on board with one of metal’s premiere labels.

Pulling influences as diverse as classical, death metal, and electronica together into a cohesive and compelling sound, DAATH’s music transcends genre-tagging despite the obvious preponderance of such death-metal staples as fast, powerful drumming, thick raging guitars, and gutturally menacing vocals. The 6 band members (Levi and Kameron with lead guitarist Emil Werstler, bassist Jeremy Creamer, front man Sean Farber, and drummer Matt Ellis) stand poised to bring their darkly branded vision of metal to your ears via their Roadrunner debut, The Hinderers, which will be re-tooled, refined, and expanded in May, once again with Murphy at his Orlando FL area recording studio, The SafeHouse.
