Joetown Pills and Ammo (Joetown Records)
The initial reaction to recieving Joetown's self-titled debut was somewhat nuke warm. Assuming it would be nothing more than the same contrived rock n' roll that we've all heard before, but anyone sleeping on this release is missing out on some of the best unapologetic rawk since the mid '90s. Joetown channels the aggressive hard rock of groups like Ugly Kid Joe to near perfection. On "American Alter" Joetown spits forth a soulfull performance that sounds like a bastardized version of Whitfield Crane mixed with the swagger of Axl Rose, while "Crash" kicks in with some thundering guitar riffage that tears listeners faces off with wreckless abandon.
Bottom Line: This is some solid modern rock album that fans of bands like Shinedown, Soundgarden and Alter Bridge can get into, but its still heavy enough to appeal to Rob Zombie fans
