DRUDGERY
Rust
(Year of the Sun)

From the opening seconds of Drudgery’s Rust to its culmination, the message is quite clear: keep things simple and grind your face off. Spawned by Matt Connell (Fuck the Facts, Exhumed), Rust races by with blistering ferocity, save for several moments where Drudgery “lay it in the pocket,” leaving true fans of the genre pumping their fists to some well placed grooves. While tending to lean more towards an old school style, (obvious comparisons can be made to Rotten Sound and Misery Index), and although the pace is frenetic, the listener isn’t lost in the confusion. In their simplicity lies Drudgery’s strength as their songs waste no time getting to the point. It’s refreshing to hear a new band that’s less concerned with flashiness and more concerned with quality song writing and memorable hooks, even more so in a genre known more for being fast than being catchy. This EP will have even the casual grind fan hitting the repeat button. - Jordan Shortt
Bottom Line: This EP will have fans hitting the repeat button while waiting for a full-length. An absolute must for fans of Napalm Death, Leng Tch'e, Fuck the Facts and even technical nerds into Dillinger Escape Plan.
