One would imagine that any band featuring a former member of the legendary Emperor would be able to come up with something a little more creative than this standard slab of straight ahead American-styled death metal.
As with numerous other bands that aren't deserving of the attention that the media showers them with, Blood Red Throne gets ALOT of hype from the bulk of the "Major" Metal Magazines and more established members of the Metal media. And once again, their collective opinions fall flat.
This isn't to say that Blood Red Throne is a terrible band, not by any means. They're simply not as amazing as others might have you believe. There's nothing exciting or impressive about a band churning out an album of nothing but Florida-styled death metal, except for the fact that Blood Red Throne isn't from anywhere near Florida. |

Bottom Line: If you're looking to be impressed by this album.......completely blown away by technical precision and loads of innovation, keep on looking, because you're not gonna find that here. To the band's credit though, Come Death is an album full of flawlessly executed Death Metal......
For a band that hails from a country known almost exclusively for it's Black Metal scene, Blood Red Throne does 'American Death Metal' better than most Red Blooded American death metal bands do. In terms of standing out, that's the one thing that makes BRT stand out, is the simple fact that they're not from the U.S.
If no frills, straight for the jugular styled Death Metal is your thing, Come Death will NOT disappoint you in the slightest. This is straight ahead Death Metal the way it SHOULD be done! |
