It's not entirely clear what The Warriors were trying to accomplish with their latest release. Listening to this album, one can't help but think back to Madball's 'Droppin Many Suckers', or even Sick Of It All's 'Just Look Around', only it's nowhere near as aggressive.

If the approach was to bring in an old school hardcore feel, they've done a mediocre job, at best. The biggest problem with this is that they failed to add anything new to the mix in the process. When any given band decides to give their sound a retro overhaul, most times you can count on a modern production, and at least SOME modern elements to bolster what used to be with the sound and styles of what is current. Mixing some old with some new is the best way to go, unless you're just too shitty of a band to pull it off. Ultimately it will be left up to the listener to decide.

Bottom Line:

Unfortunately, with their latest album, The Warriors have failed to bring anything new or exciting to the table. And seeing as how they took their name from a movie that's likely older than any of the members of the band, it's easy to see how they would be fixated on things from the past. But making a record that was already made years ago isn't going to bring in hordes of new fans. And if the point of this was to do it for the sake of integrity, then it should have been left in the garage, or the basement for the new generation of "hardcore kids" to enjoy while practicing their spin kicks and pile ons.

The only "Genuine Sense Of Outrage" here is in the fact that The Warriors attempted to make a 'classic' sounding hardcore album, without having the clout or history to create one in the first place. And having guest appearances from NYHC legend Lou Koller (Sick Of It All), Metal legend Lemmy Kilmister (Motorhead), and Andrew Neufeld (Comeback Kid) will only bring so much credibility to an album that's already trying too hard to begin with.
