Madball have been plugging away and representing NYHC since 1989. Now for starters, keeping a band going for approximately 18 years is no easy task, and despite going on hiatus for a while, and changing a few members along the way, Madball have managed to continuously push forward. As if keeping the band going isn't hard enough, there's also a matter of staying relevant within any given scene. With their latest release, 'Infiltrate The System', Madball have once again come out swinging, sounding better than ever.
The signature Madball sound is intact, with classic hardcore gang choruses and an old school vibe with a modern dose of aggression. Everything that has ever been familiar about Madball still is. This time around however, Freddy has expanded his lyrical content and taken a small step into the political arena. And while the band maintains that they are not here to push or promote any kind of political agenda on their fans, some things just can't be ignored. And given the current political climate, coupled with the band's "Keep it real" attitude, it's only fitting that some of the new material would have a political slant to it.
Outside of that, 'Infiltrate The System' is nothing short of another top notch release from these NYHC Legends. Songs about loyalty and respect, Family and Friends, and life on the streets, things that have always been a part of what Madball stands for, are not lost on this album. |

Bottom Line: Unlike some bands, Madball hasn't sacrificed their musical integrity for the sake of more album sales or a higher slot on Billboard. They're not in this for the sake of popularity, and they're not hopping on any trends either. Simply put, fans of anything the band has ever done in the past won't be disappointed with 'Infiltrate The System'. And for those who aren't entirely familiar with Madball, this is as good a time as any to jump right in.
With 'Infiltrate The System', Madball is once again bucking trends and going for the throat. All balls, and no bullshit. This is what REAL NYHC sounds like. |
