Six Feet Under has never really been anything impressive. And chances are, that was never the intent. But when your new band comes off as being nothing more than a bad attempt at being your old band (Grip Inc. is a perfect example), you know something's wrong.

'Commandment' is another slab of the same old tired formula from Chris Barnes and co. Lyrical content is par for the course. Death, murder, dismemberment, and all things gore related that were beaten to death by Cannibal Corpse years ago.

To think that Chris Barnes has been doing this for almost 20 years, and has not managed to progress in his writing skills, or vocal ability is laughable. The plus side to this album is that he's actually managed to get in the producer's chair this time around. And in regards to that, it's probably the best contribution he made to the album.

Bottom Line:

Generic is the only word that comes to mind when listening to this album. To hear even an inkling of progression from this band would be a jaw dropping affair. Apparently to Chris Barnes and Six Feet Under, progression is quite an alien concept. With the years of experience this band has, one can only hope that one day they will finally be able to do something better than shit out the same turd and give it a different name.
