All Out War have put out what could be considered one of the most predictable metallic hardcore albums ever. 'Assassins In The House Of God' literally brings nothing new to the table, and while for some in the hardcore scene that may be perfectly fine, there are those of us that would expect a band to at least attempt to progress slightly with each consecutive release.
This album has been done before, first and foremost by Slayer, who has yet to figure out how to progress. Other notable bands who've done the same are Hatebreed and Full Blown Chaos. The biggest difference between All Out War and the aforementioned metallic hardcore bands is in the overtly anti-religious sentiments. The not so vague political references are nothing new either, though they're obviously a staple within the hardcore scene. Again, that brings things full circle to the matter of putting out a completely predictable album, both lyrically and musically. |

Bottom Line: 'Assassins In The House Of God' is one of the worst cases of Slayer worship since Grip Inc.. Hardcore kids playing Metal music works wonders for bands that choose to incorporate more than a standard two/four hardcore punk beat with moshcore breakdowns, and metallic slayer-esque rhythms.
All Out War makes no attempt to do anything with the music other than lay rehashed late 80's speed metal rifffs over a hardcore foundation. The tracks are too similar to even stand apart from one another, taking away any possibility of having even one stand out track. If you enjoy albums that sound like one long song, or the same song playing repeatedly, this is a must have album for you. |
