Northern California's fast rising East Bay space tech death metallers, Rings Of Saturn, will see their debut album 'Embryonic Anomaly' unleashed in select Hot Topic stores this week. This edition of 'Embryonic Anomaly' was pressed exclusively for Hot Topic and will likely be the last chance to grab a physical copy, so be sure to hit your local store and grab yours while they're available. A list of locations where the cd will be available can be found here. In anticipation of the release, Rings Of Saturn have teamed up with www.Puregrainaudio.com to offer the track "Seized And Devoured" as a free download. Check out "Seized And Devoured" at this location.
Recorded at Mayhemeness Studios (Journal, Shadow Of The Colossus), 'Embryonic Anomaly' is an album that easily stands out amongst the clutter of todays 'core' dominated scene. Produced, engineered, mixed and mastered by Bob Swanson (Aurora, Havenside, The Wrath Of Vesuvius), the album showcases a level of technical shred and knack for song structure that puts them on a level playing field with their more seasoned extreme metal peers. Artwork for 'Embryonic Anomaly' was handled by Tony Koehl (The Black Dahlia Murder, Dismal Lapse).
The track listing for 'Embryonic Anomaly' is as follows:
1. Invasion
2. Seized And Devoured
3. Abducted
4. Final Abhorrent Dream
5. Corpses Thrown Across The Sky
6. Embryonic Anomaly
7. Annihilating The Pure
8. Grinding Of Internal Organs
9. End Of Humanity
Rings Of Saturn have gained praise and positive support from some of extreme metal's heavyhitters including Whitechapel, Conducting From The Grave, Viraemia and Slaughterbox. The band has also partnered up with an exclusive Management team comprised of Anthony Delgado (Loudside.com / RebelPyro Management) and Zach Householder (Whitechapel). Adding to their list of accomplishments, drummer Brent Silletto has landed an exclusive endorsement deal with Saluda Custom Cymbals, and guitarist Lucas Mann is set to become the latest addition to Basson's Artist Roster.
Though young and somewhat inexperienced, Rings Of Saturn's drive and determination remain steadfast. The band's consistent DIY promotion efforts coupled with a constant push from their Management team has created an undeniable buzz within the underground, and the band's live performances have proven that Rings Of Saturn are ready to set a new standard and redefine extreme metal for the next generation.

Matthew Sikora, best known as the vocalist and guitarist for hard-rockers Phathom, is set to release his self-titled debut solo album on September 21st, 2010 through Hardline Entertainment. The album was co-produced by industry veterans Mike Sutherland (Pennywise, Slightly Stoopid) and Bruce Sikora.
"This is something I've wanted to do for a long time. Just me and my guitar, pushing on down a road that's unpredictable. In the Phathom world, I come up with the core of the song, then collaborate on it with the band to finish the song. But with this new endeavor on my own, I get to see my vision all the way through to the end," commented Sikora. "Phathom has a very distinctive sound, and not every song that I write in the valley of Crescenta is going to fit with that sound. There was only one thing left to do as the songs started to pile up. Putting myself in the studio to hit the record button, my first solo record was underway with the man who introduced me to music in the first place, my father, Bruce Sikora taking a producer roll with Mike Sutherland. Ryan Fogle accompanied me on Drums, as well as long time bass player Terry Linvill, who played with Chuck Berry and The Captain & Tennille. J.P Gonzalez, of Elegy, also jumped in and was manning the keys to create my organization of sound and silence."
Sikora has honed his skills recording and touring for over a decade as a part of Phathom. The Los Angeles based outfit has performed with everyone from Avenged Sevenfold and Strung Out, to Unwritten Law and toured with the Vans Warped Tour. Sikora's solo debut truly showcases Matthew's ability to create and exciting blend of soul-searching, ethereal, yet down and dirty alternative rock.

So... those of you that still frequent this site (the number seems to be dropping by the day) are probably wondering why the updates to the news are so stagnant and why the site lags on almost everything. Well the answer is quite simple really... it all comes down to Time and working for free.
Contrary to what might be popular belief... no one gets paid to do this. Sure there are a few editors and maybe some senior writers for the larger websites out there that get paid to sit on their asses all day and update their websites, and chances are that's where most of you head to now for music news and exclusive streams of new songs or video premieres (something we totally missed the boat on providing)... understandable. But the fact of the matter is, no one at this site has ever been paid to do anything (at least not so far as I know), thus we fall behind because we have jobs we have to put first. I worked basically for free because I used to dig what I was doing with this site. Then the industry fell apart, and that's when everything changed.
I used to get music advances up to 3 months in advance of street dates, and not some lame digital advance, but a full on retail cd copy. Now, at least 60 - 70% of new releases hit the web before I even get a lousy digital "advance" from the label. How awesome is that? Label management would rather their new shit leaked before they trust me with an advance of music anymore. Makes me feel amazing knowing that I'm no longer trusted with advance music. I still have to wait until stuff leaks before I get it. That's why my album reviews are also basically non existent as of late. Having the music in advance was one of the few ways in which I "got paid" to do this. It wasn't a monetary form of payment, but my opinion on any given new release was respected and it was part of what made this worth doing. Now, the non-media world gets to hear new stuff before I do, making 'advances' and album reviews a very moot point. Awesome! One less thing for me to worry about I guess.
The publicists I have dealt with for the last 4.5 years of doing this, they're all amazing and they do their absolute BEST to get me the music ahead of time. Unfortunately it almost never works out thanks to their upper management, and I find out about leaks anywhere from a week to a month sometimes before I get an email alerting me to the fact that I now have "access" to any given album. Balls! So basically, until Label managers get their heads out of their collective asses and realize that we never leaked shit and can be trusted, I wont be spending my personal unpaid time reviewing anything that leaks before I have access to it. That's just the way it is. Of course, if history has taught us anything, it's that leaking an album will only lead to more traffic, exclusive song streams, video premieres, tour sponsorships, guest musician contributors and all manner of kudos from just about every label out there. Maybe I SHOULD leak something sometime... this site could probably use a bit of controversy/publicity... hahaha
Anyway, I really wish we had the ability to bring you new content on a daily basis. But that would entail us having traffic, which would in turn bring labels looking for adspace, which would lead to revenue, which would lead to at least ONE of us being compensated somehow... thus allowing us to maintain this day to day. But it's a catch 22. That would mean one of us would have to be able to work this site as a full time job starting yesterday and keep it going until everything else fell into place, and honestly, it's just not going to happen. I will continue to do my best to post news and info as time allows... and features will probably always be fresh from week to week. That's about all I can do on my own really.
For the sake of clarification, this is not me begging for attention nor am I calling it a day. I just figured I'd post the first official Loudside blog to address the total stagnation of the site and offer up the reason for it. It's not a full on complaint blog, but honestly, having bills to pay, classes to attend or family to make time for means none of us can work on this all day. Things are being discussed and worked on behind the scenes... trying to figure out how this can move forward and what we can do without and what we need to incorporate. Give us your suggestions, thoughts, and ideas. What do you want to see on this site? What would keep you coming here or what would bring you back consistently? Let us know so we can figure out where to go from here... we'll do our best to make this whatever it needs to be in 2010 and beyond.
