Right after taking out Ra's Al Ghul's plan and the mysterious disappearance of Dr. Jonathan Crane AKA Scarecrow, Batman continues his seemingly-endless effort to bring justice to Gotham's crime and corrupt with the help of Lt. James Gordon and new appointed District Attorney Harvey Dent. But this time, The Dark Knight faces a rising psychopathic criminal called The Joker, who's eerie grin makes him more dangerous than what he has yet to unleash. It becomes an agenda to both enemies that only one of them remains and are willing to break every part of what they believe in to stop the other.

"I could do this with you forever!" - Loudside @ THE DARK KNIGHT |
While most will want to add this film to the bulk of superhero films this summer, from the very first shots in WB's THE DARK KNIGHT one can easily ascertain that the creators are not letting themselves be confined to bringing a campy, family friendly superhero to the screen. Instead they opt for the realism and human qualities that tend to make up the majority of the Oscar bait films. Not that by any means do I think the creators deliberately set out to make an Oscar film but as well they didn't NOT try to make an Oscar film. In all realities as one watches the film they feel as if the creators are willing to extract ideas from almost every genre of film available creating a well rounded experience for its viewers.
Not to be overshadowed in the least is Heath Ledger's portrayal of the Joker. Which is a thing of movie magic that saddily can never, nor will ever be recaptured making this not only just a film but as well seemingly a stamp in time of that one great performance that will echo through out the ages. |
| Bottom Line: I hate to sound cliche but THE DARK KNIGHT really is a "must see movie" |
