In the far-flung future, the Galaxy of Limbo is in dire need of some heroes. Terrorized by the ruthless villain Mon-Star and his intergalactic horde, the only hope against this tyranny are the partly metal, partly real cybernetically enhanced super-team?the SilverHawks. Led by the daring Quicksilver, the SilverHawks use their amazingly enhanced bodies, their razor sharp wits, and a steely resolve to battle Mon-Star and the forces of evil across the galaxy. Heroes like Quicksilver, Tally Hawk, Super Twins, Blue Grass, Copper Kid and Stargazer sacrificed their human lives on Earth to be sent into outer space and challenge their intergalactic enemies.

The 80's was filled with seemingly and endless amount of cartoon series that were either A.) based off of a series of toys or collectibles or B.) was able to be turned into toys or collectibles (i.e. Thundercats, MASK, Transformers, etc.) Seeing as this is what corporate Hollywood was looking for to pump out to kids along came the cult adored cartoon series SILVERHAWKS which first aired in 1986. The general story that SILVERHAWKS revolves around is generally described as "cops and robbers in space", but in all reality definitely seems much more akin to "ThunderCats with Cyborg Birds instead of Cats" though I do not say this as a negative in the least. ThunderCats is a definitive classic show from the 80's and with that I see no reason why SILVERHAWKS is not right up there next to it, as it's general stories, characters and music is a thing that makes one yearn for the more simpler (and exciting times) of their youth. |

Bottom Line: SILVERHAWKS VOLUME 1 DVD truly is a great release and definitely deserves a spot within any 80's Animation fans collection alongside ThunderCats, Transformers, GI Joe, He-Man and the Masters of The Universe, etc. As well for parents of younger action starved males this is a great series to get those little buggers to be quiet for a while so you can rest... just FYI!!!
