SYNOPSIS
When Dave (Michael Rapaport) and Vicky (Anita Barone) were growing up, their parents had it easy. Back then, there were no "time-outs," no one had any "boundaries" and their parents had no idea what their kids were really up to. Now Dave and Vicky have teenagers of their own, and anything their kids might even think about doing, Dave and Vicky have already done at least twice. But knowledge isn't power, it's agiant pain as every day is a battle to keep their kids in line.  Fifteen-year-old Larry (Kyle Sullivan) isn't exactly a frequent diner at the 'cool kids' table in the cafeteria, while 16-year-old Hillary (Kaylee Defer) is a know-it-all and is just emerging onto the dating scene. Meanwhile, thirteen-year-old Mike (Dean Collins) is all hormones and video games. Dave and Vicky figure if they can send these three off to college without a police record or kids of their own, they've done their job. This witty, irreverent show goes inside the heads of a modern family through the use of a confessional space where the characters reveal everything they could never actually say to one another.

Sorry this is a little late, but I have never written about anything posthumously before. I really don't know what to write without feeling like I am writing an obituary or something.  Yet alas FOX has decided to cancel the MICHAEL RAPAPORT sitcom THE WAR AT HOME after only its sophomore season.  Luckily for fans THE WAR AT HOME THE COMPLETE FIRST SEASON is now on DVD to fill the gap and help ease the pain of this loss.  Pretty much, promoted as an "up to date version of MARRIED WITH CHILDREN" THE WAR AT HOME is in basics the prior description, but in more detail a very different show than the aforementioned classic.

For those not in the know, the basis for THE WAR AT HOME show revolves around the GOLD FAMILY, DAVE GOLD (MICHAEL RAPAPORT) an egocentric yet still trying to be hip but still middle aged and kind of lame father, his caring but not very complacent in life wife VICKY (played by the already discussed on the loudside boards as a certified "HOT MOM" ANITA BARONE) and their three kids HILLARY, LARRY and MIKE.  As any family does in today’s world, well.. they face the challenges of today’s world (what else would you expect from a sitcom???)  Spanning topics from interracial dating and the stereotypes that always come packaged with, to cyber infidelity to questioning if one can trust an old drinking buddy to be their daughters OBGYN??? THE WAR AT HOME definitely never misses its chance to jump on a view of today’s American society, and yes even at times it grabs its proverbial "balls" and questions it.

With all this in tow you are destined to have classic moments and THE WAR AT HOME THE COMPLETE FIRST SEASON has plenty as it is filled with the first 22 episodes, which only leaves 22 other that we could ever hope for.  Though maybe FOX will change their minds and "FAMILY GUY" it, ya never know!

Features: features:
4 episodes w/ Unaired Scenes
Living Room Confessions?
Gag Reel
Bottom Line:

THE WAR AT HOME THE COMPLETE FIRST SEASON is a good little buy for fans of the show, and might even be something non fans might want to check out if they are looking for something different from a zillion CSI's, LOST's, AMERICAN IDOL's, GREY ANATOMY's and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on.... you get my point, right???

HA!

Liar!

I had no point!

Now go buy the DVD!
