Luckily this week the studios have toned down the amount of new releases, and from what I can tell have upped the quality as this week sees the releases of DARREN ARONOFSKY's THE WRESTLER starring MICKEY ROURKE in a critically hailed comeback role, of course to match the competition in the drama department there is also the WILL SMITH film SEVEN POUNDS which from what I can tell is either really good or really confusing, or both!  Not to be outshined though is the CG film THE TALE OF DESPEREAUX complete with cute big eared mouse hero and all, the JIM CARREY comedy YES MAN and last and definitely in the least amount of theatres is the KATE BECKINSALE film NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH.

As always check your local listings for the exact showtimes in your area, and make sure to check out the official LOUDSIDE.COM pages for each of these films to get yourself in the know about all of these films!

So some of you may know about the TBS sitcom 10 ITEMS OR LESS (which is on Tuesdays at 11pm/10pm central) and some may not, but either way it is important for us to see what the effects of DVD release dates can do to the actors and actresses whom depend on the residuals from those to live lavish lifestyles.

In the video below 10 ITEMS OR LESS star JON LEHR has fallen off the wagon hard due to the "after Christmas" release of 10 ITEMS OR LESS: THE COMPLETE FIRST AND SECOND SEASONS on DVD (which is December 27th), watch at your own peril!

Rob Zombie Confirmed For 'Halloween' Sequel0 COMMENTS
Author: Anthony :: Posted: Thu Dec 18, 2008 12:15 am

The Pulse of Radio reports: Rob Zombie has been confirmed to write and direct "H2", a sequel to his 2009 remake of "Halloween" that is slated to open this October. According to Variety, Zombie will begin shooting the movie in March on an accelerated schedule. The new film will pick up right where the last one ended and chronicle the aftermath of a relentless killing spree by the Michael Myers character. There's no word on which, if any, cast members will be returning for the new installment.

The announcement was made Tuesday by Bob Weinstein, co-chairman of The Weinstein Co.

"Following the success of 2007's 'Halloween', we are thrilled to be back in business with Rob Zombie, bringing a sequel to theaters," Weinstein said in a statement. "The fans have made it clear — and we agree — that they feel the franchise is in great hands with Rob Zombie."

"I am very excited to be working with Bob Weinstein again and returning to the world of 'Halloween'," said Zombie. "The remake laid the groundwork, now it's time to really take Michael Myers to the next level. I believe we've just barely scratched the surface of where we can take this series."

Zombie has repeatedly denied any interest in helming a "Halloween" sequel, despite the first one being the most successful of his three feature films to date. But he also said in a recent call with reporters that he wouldn't necessarily want to produce a another director's sequel either. "You know, it all depends. I mean, I don't know what their plans are. You know, if I was gonna produce somebody else's movie I would wanna know what it was about. I always get offers to make a 'Rob Zombie Presents' or produce things or, you know, shadow produce things where you actually don't do any work and you just pick up a check. But I've never done it because I feel weird about putting my name on something that I'm not responsible for."

Zombie told Variety that the sequel to his remake will not resemble "Halloween 2", the follow-up to the original 1978 horror classic.

Zombie also explained why he decided to come back to the franchise after initially taking a pass, saying, "I was so burned out. (But) I took a long break, made a record and I got excited again. Now, we'll be hauling ass, and that's the problem making a movie called 'Halloween': If you come out November 1 or after, nobody cares. If it was called anything else, I'd be fine."

The next film on Zombie's slate was supposed to be a biker flick called "Tyrannosaurus Rex", but he recently revealed that he had yet to even write the script for that one.

Zombie recently issued a box set of all the recordings by his previous band, White Zombie, and will release his fourth solo studio album next year.

(Thanks: Blabbermouth)

UHHH... WOW!  There are a lot of films hitting theatres this weekend, though most in limited release (you know the whole LA/NYC release) of course some are in more than just two cities so it is in your best bet to check your local listings to get the exacts on what is out around you.  Moving on to the plethora of films being released this Friday (or tomorrow, YES I am late with my news this week... sue me!) the only really "big" release of the weekend is FOX's THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL REMAKE which they are currently promoting as a film attached to the X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE trailer if that is any sign of a film not being all there I do not know what is.  As well their is the festive NOTHING LIKE THE HOLIDAYS, the awards contenders DOUBT, THE READER and CLINT EASTWOOD's GRAN TORINO, the action/thrillers WHILE SHE WAS OUT and WHAT DOESN'T KILL YOU and the family CG film DELGO all round out the films being released into theatres this Friday.  Which from the amount of films it will be a very "perplexing" weekend at the Multiplex!

Consider me UN-bored!0 COMMENTS

Never before have I been so sold to see a film merely by it's one sheet.  Sure it may be the international one sheet to DAVID S. GOYER's January 9th, 2009 releasing film THE UNBORN starring ODETTE YUSTMAN and GARY OLDMAN, but to me it is THE ONLY one sheet for THE UNBORN... well unless the US one comes out and is hotter than this one, but the likelihood of that is... well... yeah it's just not going to happen.

N-E-how, check out the HD trailer to THE UNBORN at Apple.com or LOUDSIDE's "low-deaf" below
