As they have for the past three years, Taking Back Sunday will put a special holiday postcard up for sale on its website with all proceeds going to multiple cancer charities that the band supports in honor of bassist Matt Rubano's mother Hinda, drummer Mark O'Connell's mother Roberta and guitarist Eddie Reyes' late niece Elizabeth.
The postcards, which feature artwork donated by Arizona-based poster artist James Rheem Davis, will feature a code that enables the recipient to download a digital version of the band's new song "Carpathia," from Taking Back Sunday's upcoming album 'New Again', which will be released by Warner Bros. Records in 2009.
The postcards will go on sale during the first week of December via www.takingbacksunday.warnerreprise.com. They will be sold in packs of five for ten dollars, with free shipping for those who buy two or more packs at once. Recipients will be able to download the new song from the link posted on the card on or after December 21st. The cards will also be on-sale during Taking Back Sunday's current tour, which kicked off in Corpus Christi, TX, on December 3rd. Taking Back Sunday have been in the studio in New York with producer David Kahne recording 'New Again', the follow-up to their gold-certified 2006 album 'Louder Now'.

Fri Dec 05, 2008 3:16 am Killswitch Engage, the most prolific of the burgeoning Massachusetts metal scene's exports, are proud to announce the recording of their as-yet untitled fourth album for Roadrunner Records. The album will follow 2006's 'As Daylight Dies', which is approaching Gold-status. 2004's 'The End of Heartache' has achieved Gold certification. The fourth album is quite an anticipated event in the hard rock and metal scene and beyond, as evidenced by the fact that the band will appear on cover of Revolver Magazine's 2009 Music Preview issue, on stands December 23. Additionally, the forthcoming album was selected as one of Alternative Press' Most Anticipated releases of 2009.
For the first time in their career, the band will work with an outside producer and have chosen Brendan O'Brien (AC/DC, Rage Against the Machine, Pearl Jam and Stone Temple Pilots, to name a few) to man the boards. KsE guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz, a noted producer in his own right who has recorded all of the band's previous albums, will be taking a co-producer role on this record alongside O'Brien.
The band will record in both Georgia and their native Western Massachusetts. Roadrunner expects to release the record in Spring 2009.
Killswitch Engage will spend the winter recording the album and will hit the road in the Spring for a major pre-release tour. Look for more details on that in the near future.

Virginia's modern metal titans, Lamb Of God, performed a new song this past Monday (12/01/2008 ) during the Metallica tour stop in Seattle, Washington. Video footage of the band performing the song, which is called "Overhaul", is available below. (Footage courtesy of Youtube user Metfan91bootlegs)
Lamb Of God, will release their fifth studio album 'Wrath', on February 24th, 2009. The record will be released in North America by Epic and will be the first release with their new label, Roadrunner Records, outside of North America. 'Wrath' is produced by Josh Wilbur and was recorded in studios in New York, Virginia, and New Hampshire.
Lamb Of God finished the touring cycle on the Grammy nominated album 'Sacrament' at the end of 2007. The two-year trek was documented in the now certified Gold DVD 'Walk with Me in Hell' and culminated with the band headlining arenas across the US last December.
The band has taken the entirety of 2008 off the road to focus on the writing process for 'Wrath'.
“This album is going to surprise a lot of people,” comments drummer Chris Adler. “Typically bands that get to where we are in our career begin to slack off, smell the roses and regurgitate. We chose a different path. No one wants to hear another band member hyping a new record. 'Wrath' needs no hype. We have topped ourselves and on February 24th you will feel it.”
As always, Lamb Of God will embark on an extensive tour that will cover the globe. As previously announced, the band will be supporting Metallica on the December leg of their tour. The first leg of the 'Wrath' world tour will start in Finland on February 6th and will encompass dates in the UK, Australia, and Japan.

Records' recording artists, Metallica, were nominated for four Grammy Awards today, including Best Rock Album, Best Metal Performance, Best Rock Instrumental Performance and Best Recording Package for the best-selling hard-rock band's current album 'Death Magnetic'.
The band's ninth studio album, 'Death Magnetic' debuted atop the Billboard Top 200 Album chart at No. 1, Metallica's fifth consecutive album to do so, making them the only band in chart history to have five albums debut at No. 1. It breaks the band's tie with the Beatles, U2, and the Dave Matthews Band, all of whom have four No. 1 album debuts. In addition to debuting at No. 1 atop Billboard's Rock, Alternative, Hard, and Internet album charts in the U.S., the album racked up No. 1 chart positions in 32 foreign countries, including the U.K., Canada, and Australia, and Top 3 chart slots in seven more, including Japan. The Recording Industry Association of America certified the album platinum just six weeks after its release on September 12th, 2008.
Metallica have already won seven Grammy Awards, including five for "Best Metal Performance" since drummer Lars Ulrich and guitarist and vocalist James Hetfield formed the band in Los Angeles in 1981. They have gone on to become one of the most influential and commercially successful rock bands in history, having sold 100 million albums worldwide and playing to millions of fans the world over.
Metallica are currently on their first proper tour of the United States and Canada in four years in support of 'Death Magnetic'.
The Grammy Awards will be handed out at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on February 8th, 2009. Tune in to the 51st Annual Grammy Awards Telecast, which airs that night on CBS at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

I began to think about how the film industry could work together to make more money, and I figure that if they just took the films in release every weekend and mashed them together then they would always have 100% of the Box Office. Take this weekend for example, instead of 5 films in release, why not just one about a vigilante whom gets invovled in the 1950's rock and roll/jazz movement, who eventually wins a Nobel prize for chemistry but is then involved in watergate only to travel back into time to try to correct it all. Now doesn't that sound like a film for the whole family???

OK! That might be a little too much plot for one film, so maybe the studios got it right with splitting up the titles PUNISHER: WAR ZONE, CADILLAC RECORDS, FROST/NIXON, NOBEL SON and TIMECRIMES, they have been doing this a lot longer than I have... well actuallY I don't do what they do at all, but you get my point...err.. or not! In other "Chi" news, the bassist from the DEFTONES Chi Cheng was involved in a very serious car accident weeks back and currently remains in a coma after the incident. As with these things it is always positive thoughts that help aid the recovery of all that are involved (family, friends, fans), so if you are like me and a DEFTONES fan swing by their myspace (http://www.myspace.com/deftones) to let those involved know they are in your thoughts.
